Stressed?
my apologies for the video! it seems that it doesn't fit the space... :( enjoy anyways...
Jobs Anyone?
Booths queues, people, resumes, and papers.
Those are the typical view that you will see when you go at Job Fairs everywhere. A Job Fair is an event in which different companies/employers gather at a certain place to present a career or job opportunities for those who are looking for one.
And I was one of the many people who are looking for jobs; however, I found out that something is missing… jobs for engineers, teachers, etc.
I recognize that most of the companies there are call centers, (well there are few including real estate and sales) in which you will see them on every Job fair.
Sadly, some fresh grads ended up choosing a career that isn’t related with the course they took up because the reason is: no choice, because of the competitive compensation, which these companies offer, and there are no jobs in the job fair that is related on public services and skills like teachers, engineers, architect etc.
As I was reflecting on it, I realize that we are not just experiencing the so – called “Brain Drain” in the Philippines, well, for a brief background, “Brain Drain” is a term that summarizes the professional situation in the country, it is because of so many professionals (i.e. teachers, doctors, nurses, engineers, architects and the like) leaving for abroad and pursue careers there thus they contribute more for the growth of the country where they work, and leaving our country with these few people and the bad part they may leave the country anytime and not come back anymore, going back, we are not just experiencing this kind of phenomena but we are also experiencing “Professional Poverty” I’ve heard this from someone before but I really felt it when I graduated.
You belong to those people who are experiencing professional poverty if you are working on a job that is not related on the course you graduated. Sadly, the reality is that many bachelor graduates ended up having contractual jobs only, or a BUM.
I posted a shout out on my Facebook account months ago saying “hindi totoo na kaya mataas ang unemployment rate sa bansa ay dahil kulang ang trabaho kundi marami lang ang tamad maghanap ng trabaho” (It is not true that the lacking of jobs is the reason for the high unemployment rate in the country, rather, it is just the people who are not willing to look for one).
BPO mania
Well, a lot of people agreed when I posted that, because they said that my point has a point, however, that was back then, it changed a bit, it is true that there are many jobs in the Philippines, however, most of them are Outsourcing Companies aka Call Centers, and some people really doesn’t fit for this kind of job, because of its shifting schedule and also the language that you are required to speak to. So they ended up rejected, and the cycle goes on. Apply – interview – failed – apply – interview – exam - failed – apply – interview – exam – contract signing – job – fatigue/stress – resign - bum.
The problem with some careers is that there are compensation differences, let’s face it, we work for money, and even if you say that you are working because of something else believe me, you are still working for money, because how can you survive without it? How can you give a better life for your future family? But be warned, never let money run your life and never ever love money.
Call centers today has a very competitive salary and that’s the hook on why many leave their job to work there and the consequence, many professionals become call center agents, leaving their work empty, one trainer from the call center says jokingly, “we have nurses, teachers, engineers etc. here we can build a school and hospital” I am not discouraging you to work in a call center marangal na trabaho yan but don’t stay there, it is a dead-end job as many people say.
Teachers’ Poverty
I know the government knows this; that public school teachers have the lowest salary in the country, why? because the government doesn’t prioritize education in the country, so what happens is that many teachers leave and left us with a few teachers here, again brain – drain, there’s this quote that I’ve read and it goes like this, “A teacher is a teacher of all professions” if the government realizes that I think that teachers here doesn’t have any more reasons to leave the country, I have a friend who is a teacher and you know what? Her salary is only Php 5, 000 a month, but good thing she already left there, everyone and every career deserves a pay, because everything has its price. I’ve included my point of view here for the teachers because I am a licensed teacher and I am aware of the teachers experience because as I know it the resolution for a raise for teachers’ compensation hasn’t been approved yet, it is still in the cabinet, eating dust.
BPO: the Hope of the Country?
Pres. Gloria Arroyo said that BPO Companies are the hope of the Philippines for it to become a first world country, you’ve read it right, and I’ve read it from a newspaper, but for me, if you’ll gonna ask me, are these BPO companies the hope of the country? Well, partly, imagine our country having BPO companies ONLY, baloney right? and scary… I believe that the people are the hope of the nation not just the youths (forgive me Dr. Rizal, peace tayo!) the Philippines will be a first world country if the government will really squeeze every talents, skills, and everything that a Filipino have in order to contribute to the nation – building, but of course the government should not be corrupt while doing this, and the Filipinos should love the Philippines, thus making the brain – drain and the professional poverty just a part of our history. And that should be the Job fairs are doing, they should present different companies that offer variety of jobs, not different companies, but with the same kind of job.
Stay Put!
So right now, maybe while reading this you may realize that you are one of the people mentioned, I am not encouraging you to resign on your job right now, just stay where you are, do your part, even if the government is somehow lazy enough to generate a job that fits you so for now you will be held back for a moment. Your job right now can be your pastime, cemetery, prison, or your torture chamber. It’s up to you how you treat it. So find a job that you love and you will never have to work again.
That was her last word if I remember (not that exact though)… no buts… no ifs… wala nang pagkakataong magsalita wala nang pagkakataong ipaliwanag kung bakit hesitant akong iboto ang taong nirerespeto ko ng tunay.
Pero you can support naman as long as it is according to your decision and your conscience and not because you are dictated to do it.
In terms of politics I am more impressed with those people that are doing a genuine – service to the people, not bragging about it. You are the worst of all perverts” hmmm… so that one he is referring to is the worst and the one who said it is one of the worst, bakit? Bahala na kayo. I believe that marami namang God – fearing sa gobyerno natin na nilalabanan ang corruption pero let’s face it hirap sila, marami kang babanggain, sarili mo, mga kaibigan mong buwaya at ang bulok na sistema na nakaugat na sa pattern ng government. Sabi nga nila “a good politician is as good as a dead one” Pero hindi naman lahat.
I see one candidate as a God – fearing person, pero by means of competence? I don’t know. I know of his platforms and I admire it, pero kelangan ko pa ring pag – isipan kung iboboto ko nga ba siya o hindi. (Malay natin while writing this I will realize who I will vote na finally) Kung kilos lang tayo ng kilos at hindi natin pinag iisipan ang lahat and we are not praying for it, well, I know that Mr. Presidential Candidate really prayed for it, pero if we didn’t do our part then wala tayong pinagkaiba sa ibang leftist na basta na lang mag ra-rally pero hindi naman alam kung bakit nila ginagawa yun. Ganito kasi ang reality eh, lahat ng tao may vested interest yan, kahit gaano pa ka – noble ang intention nyan meron pa rin yan kasi we are sinful by nature.
One of the mindset ng mga tao is that kelangan may mapatunayan ka, ganyan sa mundo, hindi lahat kristiyano, imagine if you have an expensive car, are you going to let a student driver to drive it? Dahil dito naisip ko that it is not the experience that dictates how good you are, rather how good you are will dictate what you will experience.
Pero pagdating sa eleksyon are you willing to take risk? So are you willing to take risk?
As I’ve read Acts 6: 3, I was reminded that you can have wisdom even if you don’t have the Holy Spirit with you however, it is not a good wisdom and it is your sinful nature that is working in you, but, if you have the Holy Spirit with you then you will have his wisdom and it is the Holy Spirit that is working in all aspects of your life.
So ikaw, have you found your candidate? God – fearing ba siya? Competent? Or meron ba siya nun pareho?

Camp Journeys...
Written: 12/30/07 11:30 pm
…Natapos din ang camp…. But the memories; the laughters, the kwentuhan, the struggles ay mananatili sa ating puso at isipan… while I am looking at the camp manuals, I really can’t help to look back… grabe… so soverwhelmed… eto yung mga highlights ng experiences ko sa camp from 2003 to 2007…
2003
… My first camp with the southern Baptist, though I am a member of the southern Baptist… first time ko to… the theme is Youth Reloaded… purpose ko is just to enjoy the camp… (ganun ako mag-isip dati) take not ha just to enjoy… yun lang… pero di ko alam inuunti-unti na pala ako ng Diyos.
2004
Tara Tena Kabataan Mangarap Manampalataya Maglingkod… camper pa rin ako… pero unti unti akong naging aware sa kahalagahan ng youth camp dati mababaw lang ang approach ko sa camp, make friends and enjoy the camp, pero dito it somewhat changed… I’ve known the people who are behind the convention, but still I want to be a camper. (this is the time that I went out of TUP then enrolled at FEBIAS)
2005
Tara Tena 2… this camp got the largest number of delegates… this is where I became fully aware to the needs of the youth especially the campers, and also the camp staffs… salat na salat… and I felt that they need help (I hear Superman OST playing) hehehe… then I started committing to God my plan to help the Youth Department just in small things, be it an attendee of monthly mentorship which is held in LCSBC office, and also help camp staffs do their stuffs… (I graduated BBC then entered freshmen year)
2006
JGXC… i.e. Joshua Generation Extra Challenge, I was a camp staff… part of the Teambuilders, and an assistant counselor… isa ito sa mga pinakamakabuluhan kong camp… this is where I added Psalm 37:4 on my life verse, many things happened, many lessons learned… being a camp staff, and being a Teambuilder… and to that I felt the gratification of serving God… but still God as a lot more to do in my life…
2007
JGXC Dive Deeper, Soar Higher! astig na camp, sobrang bilis… I don’t know why… maybe because of the hectic schedule… I was part of the Teambuilders and also a camp staff… and a small group leader and of course it was my first time, same with my assistant, but thank God all is well, nagugulat ako sa assistant ko hehehe… basta if you would hear her speak you will learn and get many insights… maraming nakakagulat na pangyayari…. gaya ng… yun… may malungkot at meron din naming masaya… but my experience? Nakakagulat, nakakakaba, at nakakasabik… nakakagulat, bakit? Di ko inaasahan na there are people who are praying for me and believes in me for that responsibility, nakakakaba, because I don’t know what will happen to LCSBC YD while I’m holding that responsibility, but I see things for it… saka nyo na malalaman yun… and only God knows… nakakasabik, because I know God will work in a very very unexplainable way, He will use many people, circumstances etc. for our growth, I believe that in this responsibility there will be lessons to be learned, mistakes to be corrected, and goals to be achieved, at siempre youths to be ministered to.
I am happy, nervous and excited in this ministry.
LET’S GET IT ON!!! ^_________^

Laughing has a Place...
kanina I rode a bus pauwi... theres this guy who is laughing... then I heard that there is a woman who is speaking an Ilonggo accent... haayyy... I almost told that person to shut up... but becauseof the so called "wis kang kiber mode" na meron tayong mga Pilipino I chose not to intervene his fun and enjoyment...
funny is it why we sometimes laugh at each others way of speaking there'sno peoblem on it for me... we are the only ones who created that kind of ways, patterns of speaking... but of course to those who are aware that they are in the midst of mockers, and criticizers and self-righteous people, be aware of yourself pls... and also learn what they laugh to...
